Quad/Graphics CEO Speaks Out about Book Platform Transformation, State of the Industry, Go-Forward Strategy

Quad/Graphics has been in the news a lot of late … first with its agreement to acquire at least 20 HP T-Series Inkjet Web Presses, and then with the attempt to acquire book printer Courier Corporation. Senior Editor Cary Sherburne spoke with CEO Joel Quadracci to get more information and find out what else Quad is up to.

Print giant Quad/Graphics made big news when it announced a planned investment in at least 20 HP T-Series Inkjet Web Presses as part of its initiative to transform its book platform. The company had also intended to acquire Courier Corporation, but as our readers are aware, that one didn’t quite work out. As Quad/Graphics explained on its Q4 2014 earnings call, it maintains a disciplined approach to capital spending, and its decision “not to pursue a higher bid on the Courier acquisition is evidence of this discipline.”

Senior Editor Cary Sherburne had a lively discussion with Quad/Graphics CEO Joel Quadracci to find out the latest.
