Displayed reverently on an antique writing desk in the front office of DWS Printing Associates is a leather-bound album that says in images what words can only suggest about the legacy of craftsmanship that continues to govern everything taking place at this 150-year-old label printing firm.

Compiled in 1942 by Arthur Staib, Sr., the grandfather of brothers Tom Staib, the company’s current president, and Andy Staib, vice president, the album is a museum trove of richly colored, painstakingly designed label printing specimens that don’t look nearly timeworn enough to have come from the lithographing stones and the bygone printing presses that created some of them well before the turn of the 20th century.
