I was very pleased to have the opportunity to spend time with Kodak’s CEO, Jeff Clarke, both across the desk and in our video studio at Graph Expo. He was very generous with his time and his thoughts. I know our readers will find the conversation as interesting as I did. He brings a level of excitement and energy, as well as Silicon Valley DNA, to leadership of the company that can only benefit its future.

WTT: Jeff, first of all, I know you don’t have a lot of time at Graph Expo, so I am very pleased that you chose to spend some of it with me, and by extension, our readers. Let’s start by having you talk about what attracted you to Kodak. It seems a long way between Silicon Valley, where you have spent a good deal of your career, and Rochester, New York.

JC: Technology is a big part of it. Kodak is a technology company and always has been. That’s part of what attracted me to Kodak and the Board to me. The growth of technology in this industry is extraordinary. I look back to my days at DEC/Compaq/HP and see some similarities. Like mainframes, print is a mature industry. Like mainframes in those days, conventional processes are being displaced by newer technologies.
