Van Son’s Joe Bendowski Speaks Out on Trends in the Ink Business

Van Son Holland Ink Corporation has recently made a couple of announcements in the world of printing inks.  First, the company has launched a waterless ink, Vs4, which is compatible with all waterless plates and presses.  Printing concerns that have made the migration to waterless printing are saving significant amounts of water, as well as experiencing faster drying times for printed materials.  The company also announced Vs3 XS inks, an enhancement option to its Vs3 ink, featuring a strong, but balanced pigment range, enhanced operational speed for faster setting and drying, and modified stability for balanced printing and 4+4 perfecting control. WhatTheyThink spoke with the company’s President, Joe Bendowski, to find out what he thinks about the future of inks and other issues.

WTT:  Joe, for any of our readers who might not be familiar with Van Son Holland Ink Corporation, perhaps you could start by providing a little background.

JB:  Van Son Holland Ink has a solid history, being founded in 1872.  The original factory was in the Netherlands, and over the centuries, the company has expanded to produce letterpress inks, flexo inks, offset inks and a more global distribution.  U.S. operations were opened in 1953.  Our origins were in supplying the small offset side of the business, but in more recent years, we have gravitated up to serving large commercial sheetfed printers as well.  The company now operates in 130 countries around the globe.
