Pantone and GretagMacbeth have announced a partnership and are launching the first products as a result of their collaboration. For Pantone, the arrangement gives the company access to GretagMacbeth’s long heritage of color expertise in color measurement and management solutions. And Pantone, the global authority on color for the design industries, brings to the relationship a knowledge of the needs of the creative and consumer markets, providing GretagMacbeth with an opportunity to extend its technology to new markets with new price/performance levels.

According to Doris Brown, Pantone’s vice president of marketing, “All digital devices—monitors, printers, digital cameras and scanners—reproduce colors differently. But the bottom line is that if you cannot trust the colors displayed on your monitor, all other color management is a waste of time. Therefore, calibrating and profiling your monitor should be your first priority.”

Pantone had previously partnered with ColorVision in bringing to market Spyder, a cost-effective monitor calibration device. Brown indicates that the company has severed its relationship with ColorVision and has turned to GretagMacbeth to take to the next level its commitment to delivering innovative solutions that empower users to achieve reliable and predictable color results.
