Content Management Race Heats Up with WAVE/Banta Deal: Ward Wright and John Sisson Discuss

WAVE Corporation,

Monday, July 21, 2003

WAVE Corporation, founded in the late 1980s, combines its engineering expertise with its experience in traditional print and publishing consulting services to deliver efficient, robust, end-to-end solutions.

In July 2000, the company made news with its purchase of two products from Inso: MediaBank, a digital asset management solution; and InterSep, a standalone OPI solution that is also integrated with MediaBank. Since that time, the company has worked to stabilize those products and enhance their functionality, and has accumulated an impressive portfolio of customers, including 3M, AAA, Cabela's, Creo, Newsweek, Reader's Digest, R.R. Donnelley, Time Inc., and Xerox, among others.

On July 8, 2003, WAVE and Banta Corporation announced a strategic partnership designed to provide what the companies describe as the most comprehensive range of content and asset management solutions in the industry. The partnership will provide a complete range of software products that are critical to managing multi-channel publishing processes, including print, Internet and variable publishing channels. As part of the arrangement, WAVE acquired the intellectual property and assumed the future product development and technical support for B.media, Banta's enterprise-class content management software platform, enabling Banta to continue marketing and selling B.media software, while assuring that existing customers receive a high level of software support. In addition, Banta will now offer its customers MediaBank, as well as the company's other print-related software products. This combination of content management products will expand the offerings of both companies while providing customers with a complete bundle of solutions from a single source.
