As a follow-up to earlier coverage of the T/R Systems Analyst Briefing, WhatTheyThink spoke with Lanier, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ricoh Corporation, regarding a marketing agreement with Atlanta-based T/R Systems wherein the two companies will expand their strategic alliance to include a broader product base and more innovative research and development (link to press release). This announcement reflects T/R Systems’ strategy to expand its presence in the OEM channel while lessening its dependence on the traditional dealer channel. Mr. Hosoe also provides an update on Ricoh/Lanier integration subsequent to the acquisition.

WTT: Mr. Hosoe, thank you for taking the time to speak with WhatTheyThink today. Before we dive into a discussion about the T/R Systems announcement, could you bring us up to date on what’s new with Lanier since the Ricoh acquisition? Most of the press we have seen lately has related to Lanier’s migration to exclusivity on the Ricoh product line.

Mr. Hosoe: Since the acquisition, Lanier has effectively leveraged Ricoh’s strengths, such as technology and financial stability. To do so, Lanier adopted Ricoh’s technology and expanded product line.
