HP Indigo’s Vision for Nonstop Digital Print Powered by AI

Recently at a Dscoop event, Noam Zilbershtain, General Manager of HP Indigo said, “We’re moving to a world where everything is printed digitally, seamlessly, and autonomously—24/7. ‘Digital First’ is no longer an aspiration: it’s a standard.” David Zwang looks at how HP is building on that tenet.

In 1993, Benny Landa, the founder of Indigo once said, “Everything that can go digital will go digital.” Since its acquisition by HP in 2001, Indigo has not only embraced that tenet, they have continually developed products supporting it. The HP Indigo portfolio has grown over the years, disrupting the world of analog printing, and in 2021, recognizing that growth and their successes, refined their messaging and goals to “Digital First” reflecting the ongoing transition from analog to digital. At a recent Dscoop event, Noam Zilbershtain, General Manager of HP Indigo, said, “We’re moving to a world where everything is printed digitally, seamlessly, and autonomously —24/7, ‘Digital First’ is no longer an aspiration—it’s a standard.”

That early vision reshaped the industry, making digital print viable across countless applications. Digital print and processes have driven the growth and adoption of automation, which is now a requisite to a profitable print or packaging company’s need to provide for centralized business and production management. When working with any data-driven system—and today that includes print and packaging manufacturing workflows—you need to be able to support getting the jobs into and through the plant in as efficient and painless ways for both you and your customers.

Today, HP Indigo leads the digital commercial and labels and packaging markets, and it is now laying the groundwork for the next revolution: smarter, faster, nonstop digital printing. HP Indigo’s updated portfolio spans the commercial, labels, and packaging markets, featuring new industry leaders like the HP Indigo 120K, 18K, V12, and 200K alongside the successful HP Indigo 6K and more. These are supported by advanced workflow solutions like PrintOS that keeps evolving, and a new set of supplies capabilities: CMYK+ and PIP+, all designed to push the boundaries of what digital print can achieve.
