EFI Ignite: A Visit to EFI’s Londonderry N.H. Center of Excellence

As part of the media, Adam Dewitz, Richard Romano, and I were pleased to be invited to a recent EFI Ignite customer event. It gave us an opportunity to visit the (relatively) new EFI facility in Londonderry, which includes an expansive Customer Experience Center, manufacturing, and administrative/support services, and see the latest display graphics offerings from the company.

EFI regularly conducts customer events under the branding Ignite at its Global Inkjet Innovation Center in Londonderry, N.H. The idea is to bring customers up to date on the latest EFI news, share information about the product roadmap, and provide attendees with as much hands-on time with the equipment they are or might be interested in, guided by EFI experts. Displayed all around the demo center are a variety of applications guaranteed to generate questions. For example, we were shown the latest inks for thermoforming, where images are printed on a plastic material, which is then heated on a form—thermoformed—to create the desired shape. This is likely an application that most customers are not familiar with, and there are many applications for its use to create three-dimensional signage and more.

During the event we attended, we were joined by several other journalists and representatives from 15 companies and six partners.

The event was kicked off by EFI’s CEO Frank Pennisi, who joined EFI earlier this year. Prior to joining EFI, he was President and CEO of Orora Packaging Solutions, a California-based corrugated packaging company leveraging EFI Nozomi technology. Pennisi noted that the company has more than 1600 global employees, and spoke about his vision for the company—including ensuring quality and accountability from EFI and delivering innovative solutions to customers that define the future of print and packaging. The goal, he noted, is to help customers grow, both in revenue and profitability.
