Smithers Digital Textile Printing U.S. Adopts Hybrid Conference Model

As things start to return to normal, conference organizers are looking for creative ways to reengage with their audiences. In the case of Smithers Digital Textile Printing U.S. (and its sister conference, Digital Print for Packaging U.S.), they have chosen to adopt a hybrid virtual/in-person model for both presenters and attendees.

Not sure how you feel about getting back into the swing of conferences and trade shows post-pandemic (or at least we hope it’s post-pandemic!)? You are not alone. That this creates a challenge for organizers of these events.

During the pandemic, many conferences switched to a virtual model to be able to continue with their audiences, with varying levels of success. Those who were successful with virtual conferences found that, in many cases, they were actually able to expand their audiences. Where a company might have sent one or two people to an event, they were able to enable many more employees to attend due to elimination of travel costs and reduced time away from work.

Now that it is becoming possible for in-person events to resume, some organizers are all-in with in-person, but others have chosen to adopt a hybrid approach—enabling both speakers and attendees to choose whether to travel,or to join virtually.
