It was an atheist who created a beautiful Bible: John Baskerville was an artist who came to printing late in life. His 1700’s Bible is truly a work of art and Frank fingers it lovingly.

This video on a “museum specimen” is a remarkable fresh approach to what truly means printing as a modern communication media. Not only the care for the right paper, ink and typography. And the diligent focus on the aesthetic impression of each page, illustration, line and typographic character.
But also, the transmission of cultural values beyond religious believes. And holding my glance just for a few seconds on the title page I want to add that this edition of the Bible that includes the Apocrypha side by side with the Old and New Testament is a wise editorial choice from the age of Enlightenment well aligned with contemporary bible studies.
Because of that values, printing has endured!
