Of course, the real story is that of the problem retrieving data that was entrusted to all those old media back when, now!
And of course, there are the semi and un-documented data and document formats of the data stored on those physical media for which we no longer have easy means of retrieval.

This is a problem for those of us who take 1000's of photos on our digital cameras/phones... moving the data forward over time and mitigating the risk of losing it all to hard driver failures or changes in storage technology. I wonder if my family digital photos will be around to be viewed 80 years from now like I view family photographs taken 80 years ago?
