Frank and Gary, thanks for taking the time, love, and care to honor Mike Bruno. Mike, of course was also the founder of TAGA - the technical association of the graphic arts and when I was on the board or directors of that organization pushed to rename the TAGA Honors award to honor TAGA's founder and father now known as the TAGA Michael H Bruno Award (http://www.printing.org/brunoaward). I was lucky enough to meet and get to know Mike (and his wife Gilda) as a student TAGA member -- they both believed in and worked tirelessly to support students in our industry. Mike is a personal inspiration for me and I am proud that I get to say part of my own history in this industry includes meeting and knowing the great Michael H Bruno.

Thank you Frank Romano, Gary Field, and those great Cal Poly students for bringing this book to fruition. Thank you Gianna Pietravalle, Eric Steinbach, and Joel Quadracci of Quad/Graphics for contributing the printing of this seminal work.
I was privileged to write the preface in which I identified Mike Bruno as “The Philosopher King of Printing.” Indeed he was! I recommend that anyone having a passion for our industry, the printing industry, acquire a copy of this book. You will learn a lot about the development and growth of lithography, and about an important person behind it.

I only met Mike once -- Graph Expo 96 in Philly -- on a hotel bus to the show. He was kind and generous to me as we had a wonderful conversation. I used to enjoy his newsletter (What's News(s) in Graphic Communications) and his annual industry summary and outlook. Both influenced me in my writing and my research.
