Hi. This is Frank Romano for WhatTheyThink.com. Well, a few things that are in the news that are of interest to me, maybe to you. Mount Olive man arrested for stealing $45,000 in cash. Well, why is that important? A Mount Olive man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stealing $45,000 in cash from a Dover printing business. I want to know what printing business has $45,000 in cash. Where did this money come from? There was a very famous bank robber once in New York who was asked why he robbed banks and he said, “Well, that’s where the money is.” Well, maybe now the money is in printing companies. Oh, wait a minute, this is New Jersey—never mind.
AmeriSign in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has wrapped their car in a QR code in actual, shootable QR code. So as they drive around you can shoot the car and it will get you to a website where you can get coupons or you can get other information about their signage business.
A wonderful museum in Two Rivers, Wisconsin—it’s the Hamilton Wood Type Museum, just north of Milwaukee, a few hours I guess. They’ve teamed with Target and they’re going to be making T-shirts and other clothing with wood type images on them. The Hamilton Wood Type Museum preserves the craft of making wood type and they’ve got all the equipment there and an unbelievable number of samples of wood type. So Target is going to create this line of clothing with these images on them. So kids now can trade their shirts or fight for their shirts, you know, I want Bodoni, I want Baskerville, I want whatever.
This is the most interesting thing of all. We have now crossed the line between the Internet, the electronic world, and the print world. Here’s a print item in a newspaper, and when they ran the copy they didn’t change it because they originally wrote it perhaps for the electronic version, because it says here, “Click here to compare them.” So this is in the printed version. Now I can imagine some idiot, you know, hitting the paper trying to do something with it. And, of course, you know, on your iPad or your electronic device it works, but it doesn’t work in print.
Maybe some day—well no, I don’t think so, not until this becomes a screen then perhaps you’ll be able to do that.
So those are four items of interest take care.
