Hi. Val DiGiacinto, Vice President of Sales and partner of The Ace Group, Inc., in New York. Here today to speak to you about quick response codes or QR codes as they're known. Quick response codes are a 2D barcode of a style that's really become the worldwide standard. Quick response codes have been utilized in Japan and other parts of the world for a number of years. Actually, the adoption rate of about 70 percent usage in Japan for the total population and the unique part about what a QR code does, and again it's a barcode but it's two-dimensional so it holds a lot more information, but it's mobile friendly. So using your cell phone with a camera, with Internet capabilities, so any Smartphone today, you can scan this code or snap this code and by utilizing that technology you're instantly brought to either a video clip or an audio clip or a website, text messaging, you can do tweets, you can almost any capability that you have for a communication can occur with utilizing this QR code.
Again, in Japan, they've been able to utilize this for the last two and a half, almost three years and it's become part of the culture at this point. They don't use credit cards like we use them here. They'll go up to a vending machine, for example, and scan a code on a product, read the information, find out how much it is and with their cell phone pay for the information and get the vended article to come down for them and utilize it at that point.
They've had Coca-Cola has used it for a promotion where you scan the code, you brought that code over on your phone to the Coke machine, the Coke machine scanned the code from your phone, and would deliver you a free product based on that process. Now at the same time they collected your information. So we think it's something that really is going to take action.
Now The Ace Group has been able to built backends of it; it's an open architecture, non-propietary. So it's a free technology to build a QR code; for example, if you go to my website, AceGroupNYC.com and you go under marketing solutions, down to QR codes, there's a little window there you can enter your data and generate a code on your, click it over to your desktop and it's yours.
So we'd like you to visit the website. Again that's AceGroupNYC.com. If you have any information it's [email protected] and would be happy to help you out with more understanding on it.
Thanks a lot and go out there and snap the code.
