The major printing trade show of 2023 just took place in Atlanta. Frank harkens back to a time when there were 14 trade shows every year and has the show directories and badges to prove it. He hopes that the future of the trade show will not be in a museum.

We at Treacyfaces.com had a blast debuting at your Philly show in the ‘80s.
It was amazing to exhibit shoulder to shoulder alongside the digital typesetting world’s luminaries.
As you had just featured Treacyfaces in your TypeWorld pub, I had innovated a lot, from the superior design, advanced kerning and letterfit to how we marketed fonts in new ways not seen before.
So I could see that there was beneficial synergy between the press release announcement and actually being there in person, exhibiting.
It was great fun for my wife and I to see representatives from the big name companies who I had (and have) a lot of admiration for, stop by our booth and exclaim, “Look at that! Look at how they’re doing this!” right in front of me.
Being there and witnessing that demonstrated to me that right out of the gate, our advances were gaining overnight attention in desktop publishing and the overall graphic arts, and doing an end run around even the biggest competitors.
We even supplied Treacyfaces fonts on a floppy disk at the last moment to a new DTP software company whose rep had forgotten to bring unique fonts (beyond system software) with them, to demonstrate their new release. That was a fun early on-the-fly collab, suddenly demonstrating Treacyfaces fonts onscreen in their booth, too.
Without exhibiting at your show, I wouldn’t have experienced all that, “up close and personal”.
Thank you, Frank, for making all that possible!
