Frank talks to Adi Chinai, president of King Printing in Lowell, Mass., about the current state of book printing. This was apropos, as he delivered the second edition of Frank’s “History of the Phototypesetting Era.” The book industry is doing well and print books are outselling ebooks by a mile.

This was a great video and one that was of real interest to me. I think I was the first analyst/writer to visit King Printing and wrote the first article about them. This was published in WhatTheyThink. I have kept in touch with Adi ever since them. I stated when I first wrote about King that they had been the originators of digital book printing with Xerox presses that preceded the industry changing Docutech. They have also been the leader in implementing high speed inkjet printing for books when they started with the first Screen Truepress Jet. Soon after that they adopted HP's inkjet presses. My first visit to their plant was to see both of these Screen and HP presses in operation. I have been fascinated since then how such a small company could change the manner of operation for book publishers and printers.
Congratulations Adi and please give my best wishes to your parents who started it all happening.
