One of the funniest "you're old" jokes was at a dinner fundraiser for EDSF (I think) and they had a system where you could text to donate and it would show up on a big screen in the hall. Adam and I snickered and donated with a "in memory of Frank Romano". That's not the funny part though. The FUNNY part was seeing it scroll on the screen and hearing an enormous "HAH!" from Frank himself from across the room. I still chuckle at that. He always calls us "kids" and I love that. Happy 80th, my friend. You're still old. You used to be old, but you're still old, too!

Happy Birthday Frank!!!!
By the way, for the record, the Xerox Star workstation was announced and was demonstrable a few years prior to the Apple Lisa. I got to visit Xerox and get a demo of the Star in 1980 when I was working at Wang Labs. The frustration with Xerox's inability/unwillingness to truly productize and market the Star along with Interpress led to Chuck Geschke and John Warnock leaving Xerox to found Adobe in late 1982.
