Canon’s 1.6m printer adds further lustre to CMYUK’s prodigious hardware portfolio
CMYUK, Shrewsbury – CMYUK, the UK’s largest independent supplier of digital wide format printers, cutters and materials, has been appointed specialist UK partner for the Canon Colorado 1650. This new 1.6m roll-to-roll printer takes its place within CMYUK’s distinguished hardware portfolio which offers UK wide format print service providers (PSPs) best-in-class tools to expand their businesses profitably.
Versatility and innovation
The Colorado 1650 is the latest printer from Canon’s innovative UVgel range of wide format printers. Underpinned by industrial speeds and high quality, the 1650 delivers optimum performance for PSPs that output high volumes of applications such as self-adhesive vinyls (SAV), wall coverings, canvasses, soft signage and front/backlit graphics that require a high degree of flexibility for mounting and framing.
Unique ink technology
When it comes to roll-to-roll printing, Canon’s UVgel ink technology combines the best of three worlds. It has the wide colour gamut and light fastness of eco solvent, instant dry prints and suitability for interiors afforded by latex, plus the productivity and low-temperatures associated with UV processes.
The Colorado 1650 utilises a new version of UVgel inks where the stretch properties of each cured ink droplet have been increased by 85%, ensuring that output can be bent and folded for soft signage applications without the risk of cracking. This flexibility enables an astonishing range of application and media versatility from economic plain paper, blueback, heat sensitive materials, films, SAV and more. An additional benefit of these flexible inks is the fast and easy removal of printed SAV, often in one piece, without the media shattering into multiple pieces, a common issue experienced with traditionally UV printed output.
Gloss or matte, inside and out
The Colorado 1650 incorporates Canon FLXfinish that allows the user to choose between matte or gloss modes for each individual print without the need to change inks or media. A gloss finish gives visual impact to applications such as banners and posters, while a matte appearance is particularly appealing for high quality indoor applications viewed in artificial light, such as wall coverings or premium in-store POS materials.
Canon FLXfinish technology also enables printing on porous media, such as uncoated papers and soft signage materials by enabling each ink droplet to be ‘cured’ immediately on jetting, preventing absorption by the substrate.
In addition, the Canon Colorado Series features exact positioning enabling near perfect registration for double-sided printing and ‘inside out’ printing for media wound with the printable surface facing in, further boosting productivity and versatility.
“We are delighted to add UVgel technology to our digital wide format printer roster,” said Sue Hayward, Senior Digital Sales Consultant, CMYUK. “This roll-to-roll machine is attracting users that are outputting volumes of 15,000 sq.m per annum, and uplifting the performance of applications such as self-adhesive vinyls. The ability to opt for matt or gloss prints at the touch of a button on a single machine demonstrates the sheer flexibility of the printer, creating opportunities too within premium level markets such as décor and interiors. We have profiled all our best selling vinyls, wallcoverings and canvasses in readiness for customer demand. The Canon Colorado offers PSPs the optimal combination of productivity, quality and media and therefore versatility of applications.”
Duncan Smith, Country Director, Production Printing Products at Canon UK & Ireland said, “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with CMYUK and we see many new opportunities for the Colorado 1650. With CMYUK’s showroom facilities and coverage within the wide format digital print community, we’re looking forward to working together to extend our share of this exciting and growing market.”
Consumable Supported Asset finance (CSAF)
CMYUK offers one of the best finance packages in the industry to support customers in their capital investment. Its Supported Asset Finance (CSAF), developed in conjunction with Sheppex Ltd is a simple purchasing solution and loyalty scheme in one.
Once a customer has purchased a printer with CMYUK, by switching some or all of their roll-to-roll consumable spend with the company, it will in return, contribute a monthly amount directly into the equipment finance agreement, thereby reducing a customer’s monthly payment. CSAF ensures that the more a customer spends on consumables, the greater the savings on his/her printer. The CSAF package guarantees to match or beat customers’ current price rates. Materials offered are the same products or a like-for-like quality equivalent. Savings are uncapped, lasting for as long as a customer spends.
