Advanced features to offer flexible technical document management for professionals
MELVILLE, N.Y. – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the launch of the new Océ PlotWave 550 large format monochrome printing system, the newest offering in the company’s wide format portfolio set to further enhance the AEC, manufacturing, CAD, and print service provider arenas. This latest addition to Canon’s wide format arsenal was developed to meet the needs of larger workgroups and copy shops looking to efficiently handle bigger sets of technical documents during routine and peak periods. Canon’s newest wide format device is positioned to provide flexible technical document management for industry professionals and includes security features.

Protecting the printing environment*
As part of the PlotWave 550 system's security offerings, printer and scanner access can be controlled with the optional Access Management License, which requires user authentication via logon or via supported Smart Card readers. Protect the confidentiality of print and scan data in the PlotWave 550 controller's hard disk with the Disk Encryption License and TPM (Trusted Platform Module), based on Microsoft Windows® BitLocker Drive Encryption Technology. Both the TPM and the BitLocker functionality used for data encryption are FIPS 140-2 level 1 validated. Additional security options include a Removable Hard Drive Kit which gives users the ability to remove and lock away the system's hard drive.
Like the previously released Océ PlotWave 450 system, the new large format printing system is made with busy professionals in mind. The Océ ClearConnect touch screen works like a tablet to flatten the learning curve. A powerful lineup of features makes it easy to handle complex documents. Users can create, print and manage sets of documents in an intuitive way with the optional Océ Publisher Select 2 Windows-based job submission software. The What You See is What You Print preview features allows users to view work on their monitor so they have the ability to highlight potential errors before printing and makes it easy to change the settings to help users create the right results.
Keeping in line with Canon’s commitment to expanding the possibilities with large format printing, the entire Océ PlotWave family, which now includes the Océ PlotWave 550 system, is engineered to make technical documents look amazing. The recent Océ PlotWave systems feature the next evolution in print quality users have come to expect from Océ to help provide outstanding black and white prints with sharp details, accurate curves, smooth grayscales and readable texts. Waterfast print technology is designed to stand up to intensive use on and off-site. In addition, Océ Image Logic® makes it easy to get superb copying and scanning results by compensating for wrinkles and paper folds on the originals and by reinforcing colors.
Performance is Key
Thanks to Océ Radiant Fusing technology, the Océ PlotWave 550 printing system can help save costly labor-hours and energy costs by going from sleep mode to first print out in 30 seconds on average**. Users can save more time and can standardize their workflow with the included Scan Templates, which is built-in software to allow scan settings to be saved and named in one template. The Océ PlotWave 550 prints at a max of 10 D-size A1 per minute on up to four media rolls.
