Warneke Paper Box Signs for Heidelberg USA's First Primefire at drupa

Press release from the issuing company

Kennesaw, Ga. – Warneke Paper Box, a Denver company established in 1907, signed for a new Heidelberg Primefire 106 at drupa. The 7-color machine is the first commercially available industrial inkjet digital printing system in the 70 x 100 format -allowing the Colorado packaging printer to tap into new markets and increase profitability.

Fired Up

"We've been researching other inkjet printers for the last 4-5 years. This is, hands down, the best quality we've seen at the end of the press," said Stacy Warneke, President and CEO.

The Primefire 106 is designed for high production volumes, utilizing the robust Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 platform for imaging direct to substrate. This provides packaging printers with new opportunities to expand their businesses.

The digital printing system offers seamless workflow integration and the highest quality of 1,200 x 1,200 dpi at initial production speeds of 2,500 sheets per hour, designed to achieve volumes of up to 1.5 million sheets per month. The platform is modular, accommodating further speed increases and feature updates without having to replace the press.

According to Vice President and COO Steve Huppert, the new machine will allow the company to better handle short runs and dive into versioning and variable packaging. "We see the Primefire as a machine that can serve all markets, not just pharma. The ability to print 2-point type also allows us to service our customers that are concerned with counterfeiting."

Built on Success

Warneke Paper Box has been a long-standing Heidelberg partner. "Our ongoing relationship with Heidelberg played a big role in this investment," said Warneke. "We've acted as a beta site for many other Heidelberg products, and it has been hugely successful. We trust Heidelberg as our partner to produce groundbreaking technology that can turn a profit."

"We are delighted to have Warneke Paper Box work alongside us as we launch this exciting product to the US market," said Juergen Grimm, President, Heidelberg Americas. "drupa has been the birth of 40" inkjet, with the ability to open up new markets for our customers; we see this as the first of many Primefire machines for our market."
