Press release from the issuing company
MGI Digital Graphic Technology, the French manufacturer of digital printing and finishing solutions, will present a prototype of their new B2 sheetfed digital inkjet press, the ALPHAJET, during a world premiere at drupa 2012 (Düsseldorf, May 3-16, 2012).
A product of 30 years of experience in manufacturing versatile digital solutions for the global graphics market, the ALPHAJET brings MGI’s tradition of innovation into B2 production color printing. The ALPHAJET’S B2 format fits seamlessly into the majority of workflows, providing printers with the ability to produce short runs of virtually all traditional offset jobs, including signatures or large multi-page impositions, posters and specialty applications, just to name a few.
The ALPHAJET prints in 6 colors plus UV coating and utilizes MGI’s award-winning UV inkjet technology, as seen previously in the JETvarnish (B2 format) and JETcard (ISO CR-80 cards).
Main features include:
Production speeds of up to 3,000 sheets per hour
6 color UV inkjet printing
Spot or flood UV coating
Resolutions of up to 1200 x 1200 DPI
Cut sheet sizes of up to 52 x 74 cm (20 x 29”)
Substrate weights up to 500 gsm
Full Variable data printing
The ALPHAJET B2 sheetfed digital inkjet press effectively bridges the gap between the advantages of offset (speeds, accuracy and quality) and the benefits of digital technologies (on-demand, no make ready and variable data), while providing the same flexibility and versatility that is a hallmark of all MGI’s digital solutions.
While the ALPHAJET will be on display at MGI’s booth at drupa 2012 (Hall 4, booth B24), its commercial release is planned for 2013.
