Print 09 has been an interesting show. In the coming weeks there will be ample commentary and analysis on what was seen, what wasn't and the future of printing trade shows. Here is what happened during the show so far:
Yesterday Cary Sherburne was awarded the McMillan Award for editorial excellence (Congratulations Cary!). WhatTheyThink is the only media organization to have a journalist awarded the McMillan Award back to back.
Patrick Henry has two special reports from the show: At Print 09, the Search for A New Beginning Is On and Print 09: Litho, Litho Everywhere.
Gail Nickel-Kailing caught up with the folks at NewPage to find about recycling, chlorine use in paper, the Lacey Act, and sustainability issues. She talked to Mohawk Fine Papers on the first day of the show to chat about going green.
Twitter has also connected many people at the show at a number of tweetups hosted in various vendor booths. There has also been a number of good conversations about the show on Twitter.

Couldn’t agree more. It was great to see so many people at Print 09 – while the attendee figures may have been lighter than previous years – the enthusiasm of the crowd was very encouraging. The people I talked to were on a quest to find the best combination of products, services and solutions that will ultimately lead to success. The use of social media was also impossible to miss. People connecting in so many different ways, and offering those who could not attend a virtual way to view the show news and happenings like never before. It was an interesting show. It is tough to deny that print is a single channel in a broader media market. I look forward to your coverage of it. Not having attended Print 05, I not certain how different this show trended from history, but I was impressed by Kodak's omission of printers from their booth. In general, I was impressed with the awareness of the need for multi-media strategy, even if you choose not to participate - strategic decisions need to be made (and appear to be).
