Both Mary & I—who also worked with Hal—are so very sorry to hear about Hal’s passing. I have known Hal Morrow for a very long time... since his QMS days in Mobile. I was in the magazine business in those days and Hal was someone who would always schedule a structured meeting and present me with valuable information. Time was a valued commodity to Hal, and he definitely would not waste someone else’s. He always made a visitor feel glad to have made the trip.
Years later, as a marketing consultant, GMC Software Technology became a client, and I worked very closely with Hal, and the Swiss, Czech and US teams. Writing “results oriented” case studies was one of Hal’s early-career specialties, and there was no one better at this than Hal Morrow.
Gracious, kind, loyal, sympathetic and caring are all descriptive terms for Hal. On our last trip from Switzerland together, we stopped at the duty free candy shop where Hal bought copious amounts of fine chocolates for his Charlestown staff. He knew these were coveted items and Hal wouldn’t disappoint.
He was always a gentleman and always someone who could be counted on. We will miss him very much. Our deep condolences go to his wife Wendy, daughter Sarah and son Geoff. Fond memories -- Paul & Mary White, WhatTheyThink

Conversations with Hal ranged from discussions about the mysteries of the infinite universe to the infinite mysteries of parenthood. We talked about ideas for great novels and messages for great brochures. Now I can't find the words to express how much I will miss him. And Hal, he's somewhere enjoying a smoke and thinking "What a chucklehead."

Hal was many years CMO of GMC Software Technology. He was a wonderful person, always wanting to help and always giving his best, until the last moment. He was highly respected by all of us. He sense of humor, applied at the right tiime helped entice difficult situations in a multi-cultural environment. He played a key role in the success of GMC and he was a great mentor for many of us. He was very proud of his family and often told stories about Geoffrey and Sarah. We all at GMC will keep Hal in excellent memory.

Hal had the ability to mentor you without you realizing it at the time. Later you’d think to yourself “wow, that was really insightful.” When confronted with his deep wisdom, he’d brush it aside with a comment about how it really was nothing and that we should focus on today. When I saw him at On Demand earlier this year, he looked good and his mood was upbeat (as usual). When I asked about his illness, he again brushed it aside and wanted to focus on my job searching activities - and how he could help me find a few good leads. I had to drag him back to talk about his illness – and most importantly to me – how I could help him. His unselfishness, warmth and humility are a model for us all.
