Jim Lyons points to a IdahoStatesman.com article on HP's plans to "streamline" it's Imaging & Printing Group.

The Idaho Statesman article says HP "will shrink its worldwide Imaging & Printing Group from five to three global business units." The article says the restructuring is a cost-cutting measure.

The Associated Press says the overhaul is "likely to trigger job cuts." They note "Job cuts have been a recurring theme at HP since it hired Mark Hurd as chief executive three years ago."

The Idaho Statesman article says the three new business units will be consumer and small business inkjet and related supplies and services; services and printer hardware for large corporate users; and graphic arts products, supplies and services.

HP has made to public announcement regarding the restructuring.

A few days ago we covered the BusinessWeek article on HP’s Printing & Imaging Group’s Executive Vice President Vyomesh Joshi. Who according to BusinessWeek is "on a mission" to rejuvenate a 5% drop in consumer inkjet. Joshi is under pressure from Hurd and Wall Street to increase printing sales by the 4% to 6%.

The Imaging & Printing Group is HP's most profitable unit.
