There are many opinions about what are the hottest products on the floor at drupa. The questions are should we classify some of the new inkjet products as being the hottest item, or perhaps it should be the new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL162 offset press.
Yesterday however there was no doubt about the winner of the hottest product at the show. The winner was on the Xerox stand and it was the UV Coater connected to one of the Xerox iGen3 presses. This coater caught fire on the stand during the demo causing great excitement.

Andy, thanks for your help to “spark” interest in our new integrated, inline cut-sheet digital packaging solution. But I wanted to set the record straight. It was the exhaust system on the UV coater that caught fire not the coater itself. The exhaust system, while not the set-up used in a customer setting, was configured to operate safely in a trade show. Accidents happen. At drupa. At customer sites. Everything was handled quickly to ensure the safety of those in the booth and there were no injuries and no need to evacuate. In fact, the fire inspector was fine with us starting up the system again yesterday evening. As we’ve been saying, Xerox has the “hottest” applications at the show.
