The folks at Really Strategies, a publishing technology consultancy manage a blog that catalogs the demise of print by "chronicling reports of print publications that have been discontinued in favor of sole digital delivery of the content once found on printed pages, or some other reincarnation of the print brand in an online format.?"
The blog doesn't follow the typical chronological rules most blog adhere to, and posts are "back-dated" when necessary. Items are added based on the date a printed publication announced a transition away from print. This method helps the site serve as a good timeline for analyzing the move away from print by publishers.
After one month of publishing, The Demise of Print has cataloged 11 titles that have transitioned from print to an online format staring with the Thomas Register that made the move in June 2005 and the ending with the August 27, 2007 by Nielsen Business Media to stop printing the Hollywood Reporter ESQ.

Why are we always focussing on the negative? Has anyone ever counted the number of new magazines launched every month? Some people do. Despite the negative title ('Fewer New Mags Launch in July'), this article: http://publications.mediapost.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Articles.showArticleHomePage&art_aid=65279 shows that in the first half of 2007 no less than 387 new magazines were launched, most of them in print...
Isn't it time to start a website: www.theproliferationofprint.com to counteract the negative, not really unbiassed, look of some people?

I don't see much value in the numbers if you are only reporting the death of a printed piece. Are new print publications being announced by other publishers to fill the holes?

Maybe we should have a deadpool game like the infamous fc.com did with the dot com bust? Vote on what mags and what printing companies will fold next. Guess everyone with time to waste is already wasting in in facebook.com. lol.
