UPDATE 3/5/07 -- The acquisition was officially announced this morning. Here is a link to the full press release and the audio of an interview/conversation between Dr. Joe Webb and WhatTheyThink's Randy Davidson.
3/1/07 -- We want to let readers of PrintCEO.com be among the first to learn about some exciting news that WhatTheyThink.com will announce next week. WhatTheyThink.com has agreed to acquire the assets of Global Forecast Group which is owned principally by Dr. Joe Webb.
Dr. Joe is well-known in the industry already and has been a content partner with WTT since 2003. Our plan is to launch a brand new service at WhatTheyThink.com - the Economic and Research Center. In the past, we have outsourced much of the research and analysis published at WhatTheyThink.com. Now our readers here at the blog and other web sites in the WTT family will have access to original research, even more trend analysis and most importantly, the most timely economic data available anywhere in the industry!
Dr. Joe will become Director of Economics and Research for WhatTheyThink.com. His full attention will be focused on building the best research program in the print and publishing industry for our readers.
We will have more details next week.

I just wanted to add a personal note at how excited I am to have this taking place. I've only ever met Dr. Joe once, but through several IM conversations and emails feel like we know each other a bit. It was good to meet the one time because he, like others, thought I was some made up persona and doubted my true existence. I think he even said "you DO exist!" while shaking his hand. :-) The reason I love working with Joe aside from his obvious expertise and prolific work is that he is intensely curious and happens also to be quite a techie. I can relate to that and for all these reasons really am excited to get to work closer with him as we build out this Economics and Research Center concept. I am sure he will challenge us with new ideas and ways to add maximum value to our members - and we need that. I don't need to welcome him to the WTT family, as he's been a critical part of it for a long time, but I will take the chance to let he and our readers know that I think this is one of the best things that could possibly happen to WhatTheyThink.
