North Kingstown, R.I. – The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, founded in 1988 by Paul Newman to provide a “different kind of healing” free of charge to seriously ill children and their families, hosted its 28th Annual “Big Apple Bash” on November 9, 2019. The “bash” was held at the Big Apple Circus, in Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center in New York City. Toray Plastics (America), Inc., one of the sponsors of the event, was on hand to celebrate along with other guests and campers. The event set a new record in fundraising, securing more than $2 million for the Camp’s annual programs.
The two-hour performance at the Big Apple Circus was followed by a reception at the iconic Tavern on the Green in Central Park. Kicking off the evening’s short program, the Camp’s CEO, Jimmy Canton, shared program updates. He then introduced Hole in the Wall camper Neena, who offered her Camp story and sang “Somewhere Only We Know,” a song she learned at Camp.
“The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp does such important work, profoundly impacting the lives of 20,000 people annually,” says Christopher Roy, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Torayfan® Division, Toray Plastics (America). “They understand how vital it is to have fun in the face of serious challenges and to celebrate life. We are extremely grateful to be able to support them.”
