Washington, DC – The Postal Regulatory Commission is appointing Jennifer Alvarez Warburton as the agency’s director of public affairs and government relations, effective October 15, 2019. Ms. Warburton brings more than two decades of postal and legislative expertise to the Commission. In addition to serving as the chief of staff to a member of Congress, Ms. Warburton has extensive experience working at the U.S. Postal Service and subsequently its largest employee organizations, representing their interests before the Congress and collaborating with all postal stakeholders.
Ms. Warburton began her postal career as a government relations representative at the Postal Service, working with members of Congress and their staff to resolve local issues. During the development and passage of the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006, she served as director of legislative and political affairs for the National Association of Letter Carriers, personally liaising with senators, representatives, and their staff on a broad set of issues affecting the Postal Service, association members, and customers. She was employed as chief of staff to Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, where she developed long-term legislative strategies in conjunction with the congresswoman’s senior membership on the House Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees. Ms. Warburton represented the congresswoman before both the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Blue Dog Coalition.
Ms. Warburton later served as the American Postal Workers Union’s lead external liaison to the Postal Service, Commission, employee organizations, and the mailing industry. Most recently, Ms. Warburton has been director of government relations at a women’s health organization. Ms. Warburton is a graduate of State University of New York - College at Old Westbury.
The Commission’s Office of Public Affairs and Government Relations serves as the public face of the Commission. The office is the Commission's primary resource in support of public outreach and education; media relations; and liaison with Congress, the Postal Service, and other government agencies.
