HP Showcases Digital Print Innovation at PRINT 19

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, Ill. – Today at PRINT 19, HP introduced new high-value inks for HP Indigo digital presses, and new productivity and versatility features for HP PageWide Web Press to help print service providers expand opportunities and enhance economics for digital commercial printing, book production, and direct mail.

At McCormick Place, Chicago, October 3-5, HP is presenting in its booth (#1527) a continued innovation stream enabling commercial printers to grow and transform their business. The showcase includes live demonstrations on the HP Indigo 12000 HD Digital Press, HP Indigo 7900 Digital Press, and HP Latex R2000 Plus, in addition to a presentation of the newest performance-enabling solutions and print for HP PageWide Web Press.

Ink innovation for HP Indigo commercial printing
HP Indigo announced the release of new special inks for commercial printing — HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver and HP Indigo ElectroInk Premium White — for delivering high impact with the HP Indigo 7900 Digital Press and compatible HP Indigo 7000 series presses.

HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver for commercial printing, beta tested at 15 HP Indigo digital press owners worldwide, delivers stunning high impact metallic colors in one printing process. The breakthrough ink enables PSPs to metalize the entire color gamut by simply printing CMYK on top of the first layer of silver. “Silver for us is a game-changer, expanding the options to offer metallic embellishments and achieve new looks on a variety of substrates, coated and uncoated,” said Paul Regan, Director, FE Burman, a beta customer.

Additionally, HP Indigo ElectroInk Premium White offers outstanding brightness and opacity white on colored, Kraft and clear media. “We are benefitting from the new ink for scratch-off applications, and saving on layers of white ink,” said Ty Koo, Lawton Connect.

Simplified HP PageWide solutions with PrintOS
Continuing innovation in the HP PageWide Web Press portfolio includes new solutions and tools to improve quality, efficiency and simplicity. HP PrintOS Insight for HP PageWide presses is now available. This new cloud application drives business intelligence for PrintOS-connected HP digital presses, delivering updated analytics, reports, and dashboards for production managers to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

“HP is again raising the bar for what high-performance production inkjet can do for commercial printers, profitably expanding their digital application range with greater quality, productivity, versatility, and economics,” said Eric Wiesner, general manager, HP PageWide Industrial Division. “These new capabilities make it easier for our customers to migrate higher-volume commercial print applications from offset to PageWide.”

Additional advancements include:
Duplex post coating solutions. Harris & Bruno International will deliver new duplex post coating solutions fully integrated with HP PageWide Web Press T200 HD and T400 HD series presses. This capability helps PSPs deliver offset class print quality, gloss and durability to differentiate in direct mail and general commercial print markets. The solution also includes drying systems to support a wide range of aqueous (AQ) and ultraviolet (UV) coating fluids and coat as fast as HP presses on media up to 250 gsm/10 pt.

New HP A54 Black printheads. For HP PageWide T390 and T490 HD Web Presses, new high-performance printhead technology provides higher text print quality at performance speeds of up to 1,000 fpm (305 mpm) on HP T300 and T400 HD series presses. Field-upgradable to currently installed HD presses, the printheads deliver finer lines and more precise black detail in HDNA’s Performance and Quality modes.

HP Smart Mode Suite helps reduce paper waste and increase productivity for short-run books, direct mail, and commercial applications on PageWide HD Series presses. Multi-Roll Print Mode enables continuous printing during roll changes for up to 20% productivity. Variable Speed Mode on the PageWide T240 HD allows for automatic or manual speed adjustments, useful during finishing slow-downs or operator quality checks. The Pause & Resume Mode enables operators to clear finishing jams and resume printing with no additional paper waste or job loss.

MICR for HDNA (High Definition Nozzle Architecture) to support transactional applications including high-volume check printing. In HDNA Performance Mode, MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) marks can be printed inline at up to 152 meters (500 ft)/minute with robust optical and magnetic readability. HP’s industry-proven MICR is highly durable against scuffing in inserting lines. MICR for HDNA is available on new presses and is field-upgradable on first-generation MICR-enabled PageWide presses.

HP SmartStream Color Studio and ColorElite Studio – This complete color management and proofing software package, designed and supported by HP, allows print service providers to tune color quality on-press and create profiles for all substrates, assess ink reduction and quality trade-offs, and achieve better color matching.

HP Indigo will also showcase commercial print from the HP Indigo 50000 Digital Press, the new 30-inch roll-to-roll press for general commercial printing.
