Hi-Tech Color of Idaho Adds HP Indigo 12000 to Keep Pace with Growth

Press release from the issuing company

Hi-Tech Color, a full-service commercial printer, has expanded its digital printing fleet with the addition of an HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press, as it continues to rapidly grow its print volume by 25% annually.

The Boise, Idaho-based printer decided to add the press this year after consulting with the HP Customer Success Program team on how to manage the upsurge in demand for digitally printed products.

Hi-Tech Color focuses on postcards, business cards, calendars, and game tickets. The business was running a 13 x 19 inch HP Indigo 7800 Digital Press, but limited capacity to supply demand from new customers forced it to outsource many jobs out of state.

“We wanted to optimize production and increase HP Indigo print volume. This would open up opportunities to drive new sales for Hi-Tech Color,” said Justin McGee, owner of Hi-Tech Color. “Realizing we had indeed maximized our print production on the HP Indigo 7800, we decided to take the next step and added the 29-inch HP Indigo 12000 format press, the first in Idaho.”

The HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press offers high-volume production speeds of up to 4,600 20 x 29-inch sheets per hour.

The new HP Indigo 12000 has also opened new applications and high-value business for Hi-Tech Color such as pocket folders and large-sized brochures, including personalization with variable data, without requiring large minimum quantities.

The ability of the press to print on synthetic materials using One Shot color is another bonus on the press, adding to the expanded product line, noted McGee.

McGee said Hi-Tech is also taking advantage of advanced color capabilities including up to 7 ink stations supporting special inks such as HP Indigo ElectroInk White and fluorescents.
