PRINTING United Sees US Launch of New Booklet Makers

Press release from the issuing company

PRINTING United, Dallas, running from October 23 to 25, will include the US launch of Morgana and Plockmatic Group’s next generation of digital finishing products, the all NEW BM5000 and BM3000 ranges of booklet makers.

With an increasing number of printing systems available to handle larger cut-sheet sizes, letter landscape and oversize booklets can now be produced easily and cost-effectively with these new products. The new BM5035 and BM5050 products deliver these new applications by handling sheets of up to 24.4” in length.

Commenting on the new equipment, Ray Hillhouse, General Manager, UK Operations for the Plockmatic Group, said: “We are proud to be showing the most innovative refresh of our portfolio ever. The all new Morgana BM5000 and BM3000 are the latest members of the Plockmatic Group booklet making family, engineered for mid-to-high volume customers with the highest quality and functionality.”

The BM5050 and BM3050 can staple and fold up to 50 sheets of 20 lb Bond, to create booklets of up to 200-pages. The BM5035 and BM3035 is capable of handling 35 sheets to create up to 140-page booklets.

“An even lower cost per copy can be achieved with the BM5050S, with its four stitching heads. Users will be able to finish jobs of up to 50 sheets, that have been imposed two-up on a sheet, for higher productivity and efficiency.”

Maximum paper size on the BM5000 machines is 12.6 inch by 24.4 inch. On the BM3000 machines, 12 inch by 18 inch

The booklet maker can be specified with either two or up to four stitching heads. This gives customers the ability to further tailor their system and finish a wider variety of booklet sizes.

A system also can provide edge stitching in one or two locations for even more flexibility.

Morgana BM3035/3050
The new Morgana BM3035/3050 will provide for modular booklet making solutions for centralised reproduction departments and commercial print providers, large and small. Customers can choose from a range of cost-effective options to support their application requirements. The system is packed with a host of unique technologies that deliver finished books with quality to match today’s printing systems.

Hillhouse added: “Customers are demanding more media versatility from digital print, and Morgana needs to be equipped to follow that demand. This latest range of Morgana products have been designed from the ground up to work with today’s coated, uncoated and textured paper stocks.

“Both product ranges incorporate true stapling for high-quality stitching from spooled wire, providing some 50,000 stitches per spool.”

Options
The Morgana BM3000 and BM5000 can be equipped with the vacuum VF602 dual bin feeder designed for pre-collated sets. Each bin can be loaded separately on the run to give continuous production.

Face Trimmer: the addition of the trimmer removes the shingled effect on the face of the folded document and provides a clean document edge.

Squarefold: this unit adds a square folded spine for a professional, perfect bound look to the finished book.

The stock range that can be handled is from uncoated 18 lb Bond through to coated 30 lb Bond.
