Burlington, Wash. – Aiken Standard in Aiken, SC has expanded their printing operation with a four tower Goss Magnum press purchased from imPRESSions Worldwide. This upgrade was necessary to accommodate the four-color workload and to split the press and double out, running two folders simultaneously. The Aiken Standard (part of the Evening Post Industries) is a repeat customer with imPRESSions. The two companies worked together to obtain the best press configuration to accomplish goals, while maintaining the desire to control costs, ultimately landing on the four tower Goss SSC Magnum press.

The press was removed from Houston and shipped to imPRESSions Worldwide’s southeast USA Service Center in Tupelo, MS. There, improvements were made including adding splicers and one mono unit to complete the new press layout. The press was staged specifically for the new configuration to be implemented in SC. Because of the very limited space in Aiken, the press equipment is being shipped and installed in stages. The old Goss Community Press which has seen better days, is being removed to make way for the new Magnum. Phase One of the installation was recently completed and is now in production as phase two gets started. Under a tight deadline and lead by imPRESSions’s production manager, Steve Salvino, the project will be completed later this month. “The first phase went by fast and the transition to the new Magnum Press was virtually seamless. We are on schedule to have phase two completed soon,” said Brad Berg, Aiken Standard Production Director. “The imPRESSions Worldwide team is extremely capable, especially considering our space challenges and removal of old equipment to make way for the new. The new press will dramatically increase quality and capacity as well as speed of production.”
