The Global Counsel Awards are presented annually by Lexology with the support of the Association of Corporate Counsel. This year’s 13th annual awards garnered more than 4,500 individual nominations for both in-house lawyers and legal department in 11 categories that included Competition, Corporate Tax, Employment, General Commercial, Intellectual Property, Litigation, Mergers & Acquisitions, Regulatory, Rising Star, Compliance Innovator of the Year and Thought Leader of the Year. Gruen was on a short list of seven finalists for the Employment awards before ultimately being named the winner. Winners in other categories came from well-known companies such as Verizon, CBS Corporation, GE Aviation and Discover.

Gruen accepted her award at a gala dinner and awards ceremony held on Thursday, June 20, in New York City. The event was attended by 400 senior lawyers from across the world, including in-house counsel from more than 100 companies.
