Bowne Names Harenchar as Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer

NEW YORK, July 16 -- Bowne & Co., Inc., a global leader in delivering high-value document management solutions, today announced the appointment of Ruth A. Harenchar, 52, as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, reporting to the Office of the Chairman.
Harenchar directs all strategy and operations of Bowne's Technology Enterprise to see that each of the company's businesses and their customers have access to the most effective and advanced technical capabilities and solutions. She replaces Judith Shapiro, who retired at the end of last year.
The mission of Bowne Technology Enterprise is to: speed the application development of Bowne's new products, ensure the seamless integration of document and workflow solutions, maintain a single point of access to integrated solutions for Bowne customers, standardize core technologies across the company, protect Bowne's information assets through the highest security standards, and invest in the advanced infrastructure to support the company's technologies.

Harenchar joins Bowne from the global professional services firm of Ernst & Young LLP, where she most recently served internal and external clients as Director of Information Technology Account Management Services. Previously, she served for 17 years in a wide range of management positions with Electronic Data Systems, the leading global information technology services company. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in History and Education from the University of Illinois and a Master's Degree from the Northwestern University Medical School.
