Press release from the issuing company
The Atlanta Area School for the deaf, located in Clarkston Georgia, is unique as they serve elementary through high school students, currently they have approximately 180 students at the school.
Becky Miller Dumet has been teaching marketing at the school for 8 years and is located at the high school, focused on vocational training.
The school runs its own store where they sell various shirts and other garments, the money is then used for school activities and field trips.
They currently have Dye Sublimation and Digital transfer using the OKI 711WT. Becky explains that they struggle a bit with their Dye sublimation machine because they can only use limited color shirts, all light colors, because dye sublimation does not offer white. Another issue is the equipment requires frequent maintenance.
Becky continues, they don’t have any problems with the OKI as they can produce any design on any type of garment and in any color. The OKI comes with white toner inside which makes it easier for the teachers as well as for the students.
In the past the school was outsourcing these items and often they were not satisfied with the quality of what was delivered. Now we see our students discussing design ideas with the teachers and the quality is much better than what we had before. The students can use the OKI to print their design in color until it is perfect and ready to be printed on transfer media.
Jolina, one of the students, mentioned that she loves the OKI Digital transfer printer. They make shirts for all different events like fall festival and all other events.
Becky continues that they are making money from items sold in the store and it goes to pay for the field trips. For instance, they compete in a state competition every year and this means that the students can go for free.
The biggest benefit of the OKI is the fact that it includes white toner that allows us to print on any garment, like 100 % cotton or 100 % poly or all the different blends.
Becky closes by stating again that the OKI 711WT is really a great machine!
