MAXSON Dual Slitter Design Permits High Production Sheeting

Press release from the issuing company

A dual slitter rig, designed to permit high production sheeting is available from Maxson Automatic Machinery Company. Capable of slitting high bulk papers and board without objectionable dust build up, the station includes two banks of slitter rigs mounted over one another, infeed and out feed rolls, and an AC drive mounted within a freestanding frame. The low inertia, chevron carrier rolls, mounted at the infeed and the out feed of the station insure smooth trouble free flow through the slitter station and into the cutter.

Heavy duty, top slitters outfitted with dust collecting bonnets are air loaded against bottom slitter rings. The bottom rings of each slitter rig are mounted on a common ground shaft. Controls for engaging and disengaging the slitters are mounted on the frame. An AC motor that follows the cutter’s line speed drives both bottom slitter shafts.

The slitter rig can be outfitted with a digital positioning system that permits the Operator to accurately locate the slitters. Using the digital read out on both banks consistent widths can be maintained, insuring pile quality. A fully automated programmable slitting system is also available.
