Press release from the issuing company
The President nominated Robert Tapella to be the Director of the Government Publishing Office (GPO) and the U.S. Senate needs to confirm him before the end of the year. Mr. Tapella led the agency before and while we might not always agree with everything decision he's made, he is honest and trustworthy and always treated employees with respect. He listened to us and communicated with us. Although he's a Republican, he made labor relations and union negotiations a priority. He also has a vision for the future that includes strengthening the GPO business model (which means secure jobs for employees) and knows the importance of the Federal Depository Library Program. Perhaps more important right now, he is willing to come in and clean up the toxic work environment plagued by corruption, cronyism, and inept management. We have had four agency heads in the past year and its time to have a permanent agency head that we know and trust. As employees and other stakeholders of the GPO, we urge the U.S. Senate to confirm Robert Tapella as GPO Director. Thank you.

I endorsed Bob Tapella to become the next GPO Director. Bob is an objective and intelligent person who would represent the best interests of the GPO for all people. With Bob having previously served as Public Printer of the United States, I can think of no other person better qualified for the directorship. I am Bob's former Professor at Cal Poly and present industry colleague. I have known Bob for approximately 40 years, and have firsthand observed his professionalism.
