New Connector Allows Easy XML Transfer from QuarkXPress Files

Press release from the issuing company

lexandria, Virginia - worldweb.netSM, Inc., an innovative leader in providing end-to-end content management software, today announced availability of its XT Connector version 1.5 for the Macintosh and PC. With the click of a button, the connector gives users the power to transform highly graphical and structured QuarkXPress documents and entire directories to XML, which is then stored within worldweb.net's ExpressroomÆ I/O. The QuarkXPress document retains all of its layout and properties when transformed to XML, allowing users to easy manipulate the document within Expressroom I/O and deliver it quickly to the Web. "Our users in the publishing world expressed great demand for an easy-to-use and powerful tool that will enable them to work within a familiar environment like Quark, and publish directly to the Web. The XT Connector is the first of a family of connectors that will allow them to do this," said Larry Henry, CTO of worldweb.net. "The XT Connector was built on an extensible and flexible architecture that is also designed to be used for a variety of other input types in the future, delivering on our promise to create the tools that our business users need in order to produce fresh, timely, and relevant content." "Traditional print publishers have been limited in their ability to extract, integrate and deploy desktop content with web applications such as ebooks, ezines and online catalogs," said Leonor Ciarlone, Senior Consultant with CAP Ventures, Inc. "Integrating XML-based support for the vast amounts of QuarkXPress content in this community provides these organizations with a streamlined, efficient and scaleable way to publish and re-purpose print-based content as part of a strategic web publishing initiative."
