Canon and eCopy Announce Distribution of Mailroom 2000 Software
Press release from the issuing company
LAKE SUCCESS, NY and NASHUA, NH - Canon U.S.A., Inc., the company whose imaging solutions give people Know How, and eCopy, Inc., the industry leader in electronic distribution of scanned documents, today announced a new agreement for the distribution of eCopy's MailRoom scanning and distribution software with Canon microfilm and document scanners. Canon's Image Filing Systems Division authorized resellers will now be able to source MailRoom software directly through Canon's distribution system.
eCopy's MailRoom 2000 converts microfilm and paper into electronic files using the Canon MF series of microfilm scanners and DR series of document scanners. The electronic files - or eCopies - can then be distributed over corporate networks or the Internet. Users can also send paper documents to a fax server directly from MailRoom, or to a public folder on the network, where they can be stored and easily accessed.
A similar software distribution agreement is already in place with Canon's Networked Office Systems Division, which markets and sells the highly successful imageRUNNER series line of multifunction imaging systems.
"Despite the increased use of the Internet in businesses, paper documents continue to be used in business transactions," remarked Edward Schmid, president and CEO of eCopy, Inc. "Canon's microfilm scanners and DR series of scanners, along with the eCopy MailRoom software provides the technology required to incorporate paper-based documents within the digital workflow."
"MailRoom has brought Canon's Image Filing products to a new level," stated Robert Stankard, director and general manager of Canon U.S.A. Image Filing Systems Division. "This distribution deal solidifies eCopy's position as the leader in the Internet-based paper document distribution market. Our commitment to providing a complete solution to our customers relies on partnerships with companies such as eCopy, Inc."
The partnership between eCopy, Inc. and Canon U.S.A, Inc., established in 1996, has resulted in extensive distribution and marketing agreements with Canon's Networked Office Systems Division. Since then, both companies have worked closely to educate dealers and customers about the eCopy/Canon solution, and how the related technologies continue to converge for a single solution for moving paper documents in a digital world.
A free 45-day trial of MailRoom 2000 is available for download from eCopy's web site at www.ecopy.com. The MailRoom Image Filing bundle is available from all Canon Image Filing Systems authorized resellers.
About MailRoom 2000 The new release of eCopy's desktop client software includes the free eCopy Viewer, which enables any recipient of an eCopy to view and print documents from their desktop. Business users who have MailRoom installed on their desktops are able to process paper documents just like electronic files by viewing, annotating, converting to editable format (OCR), and saving to document management systems. MailRoom includes many document markup and handling tools, providing the ability to combine or separate scanned documents, attach signature stamps and create ''eCopies'' directly from computer files. The software also allows recipients to send and receive eCopies directly from their desktops.
