Cambridge, U.K. – Andy Cave, Hamillroad Software’s CEO, received the Technical Innovation award at the Future of Flexo, Join the Network Gala 2018, for his innovative work developing products for the graphics, prepress and print industry, most recently the multi-award winning Bellissima DMS for flexographic printing.
Held on the 26th September 2018, in Rosemont IL, coinciding with LabelExpo Americas 2018, the Future of Flexo inaugural Join the Network Gala, hosted over 400 C-Suite executives, business decision makers and thought leaders from around the world to connect, discover and support the future health of flexo.
Claudio Semenza, the Future of Flexo chairman noted, “The 2018 Gala is not just a celebration of the successes of our giving community, but a celebration of the recipients of the donations that our community makes. These recipients include young people involved in the study of flexography”.
With more than 30 years’ experience in the graphics, pre-press and printing industry, Cave’s contribution to flexo was recognised in the award announcement given by Larry Wyatt: “The history of flexography includes a record of inventors who accrue a grand status to a body of work where every solution, every concept… every technological innovation is worthy of our study. It is an exclusive club, the list is finite but includes the dynamic and singular individual who is being honored tonight for his far-reaching developments in design and implementation impacting the world of graphics, pre-press and the print industry as a whole”.
Graduating from the University of Bath with a BSc in Mathematics and Computing, and before founding Hamillroad Software Limited, Andy Cave was the Chief Designer at Harlequin (now Global Graphics) for more than 12 years where he established the RIP division and was responsible for the design and implementation of the Harlequin RIP.
Hamillroad’s Digitally Modulated Screening (DMS) technology, Auraia DMS for offset and Bellissima DMS for flexo both developed by Cave, represent revolutionary breakthroughs and are set to transform the printing industry.
Commenting on the award win, Cave said: “It is an incredible honor to receive this award, it has been years of work in the making to bring these technologies to life, and it could not have been possible without the support of the printers, trade shops, and suppliers who were involved in the development of Bellissima. I’d like to thank the team at Hamillroad, with special thanks to Coveris, MacDermid and Apex who have been instrumental in the early development and launch of Bellissima, along with our more recent partner DuPont”.
Ryan Vest, Global Director of Innovation at MacDermid Graphics Solutions, added: “MacDermid is proud to have played a part in the advancement of Hamillroad’s momentous technical achievement, and we look forward to future successes together with Bellissima. As a member of the Future of Flexo Consortium, we support technologies and education that ensure the growth and health of flexographic printing. Our sincerest congratulations to Andy and the team at Hamillroad!”
