New by Zanders: Zangrass, Grass Paper for Sustainable Packaging

Press release from the issuing company

Presented for the first time at FachPack 2018, 25 - 27 September 2018, Hall 8, Booth 8-506, Nuremberg

Bergisch Gladbach – Zanders takes FachPack 2018 as an occasion to present another new product: Zangrass is an uncoated grass paper with a special tactile feel, that was developed especially for sustainable packaging. Furthermore, Zanders presents the newly introduced barrier paper Zanbarrier NGR. Visitors to FachPack can find more information on the two new qualities Zangrass and Zanbarrier NGR in Hall 8 at Booth 8-506. In addition, samples can now be ordered via [email protected].

“Each sheet is unique“ – like no other paper, Zangrass offers a natural, heterogeneous look with fine grass dots on a greenish-beige basic tone. 20 to 40 percent virgin fibers of sun-dried grass are being used for the new quality. The rest consists of bleached fresh fiber pulp. The optical and tactile natural character of Zangrass is topped off by the uncoated, textured surface. At the same time, the quality has very good stability and processing properties and can be used for flexo printing.

Sustainably packaging for organic and natural products
From fruit bowls and vegetable trays in the form of corrugated cardboard to reusable paper carrier bags up to applications in the field of natural cosmetics: Zangrass is mainly used in the segment of organic and natural products. Not only does it transport the message of naturalness and sustainability on the outside but is also produced environmentally friendly. Up to 75 percent of CO? emissions can be saved in the process chain for the production of the grass paper in comparison to pure fibre-based papers and and also the water consumption is lower. Furthermore, Zangrass is completely recyclable and compostable. Currently, the new paper is available in the grammages 120 gsm and 150 gsm. An expansion of the product range to lighter and heavier weights is already planned so that Zangrass can be used for diverse applications in the future.
