Zapways.com Launches First of Three Revolutionary Components

Press release from the issuing company

IRVINE, Calif., - Zapways.com, the first company to aggregate a host of critical business and consumer services at a single web site, today launched the first of its three major components designed to streamline the tasks of document management, production, copy, binding and shipping for the SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) and consumer markets. Available for immediate use is the company's ZapShipÅ service, which now makes it possible for small businesses and general consumers to easily manage and execute all of their shipping needs through one central web site, www.zapways.com, truly making ZapShipÅ the courier of the future. ZapwaysÅ is providing the ZapShipÅ solution through its alliances with world-class shipping couriers. With this "click 'n ship" solution, users arrange and pay for shipments conveniently from their desktops, print their own shipping labels, and track packages online. Shipments can then either be dropped off or picked up by the user's courier of choice. "We're truly excited to bring this critically needed infrastructure to the market," said Christina Mangram, vice president, e-marketing at Zapways.com. "Businesses and consumers alike are always looking for ways to make the Internet work for them, especially when it helps them stay productive and save time. ZapShipÅ will do just that, and when combined with our other services soon to be announced, we're truly talking about real-world solutions that add value." Although online shipping is currently available through FedEx and UPS web sites, ZapShip is particularly unique in that it will soon integrate its shipping capability with Zapways' other two core functions - online printing and binding and online file storage services. According to the company, no other web site exists today that incorporates these critical business functions through one centralized location. Zapways will announce these additional capabilities in the very near future. The enormous success and projected growth of online postage in the U.S. indicates similar potential for online-based shipping. According to International Data Corporation (IDC), the small business and SOHO markets have already spent $8.2 million on PC postage since this introduction in August 1999. IDC predicts this figure will soar to $300 million by the end of 2000 and will eclipse $600 million by the end of 2001, boding well for overnight express and second-day delivery shipments. With UPS' 1998 revenues totaling almost $25 billion and $14 billion for FedEx in 1999, Zapways is well positioned to establish its presence in the marketplace by combining its ZapShipÅ services with its online printing and storage solutions. Zapways.com, headquartered in Irvine, Calif., was founded in January 2000 with the mission to provide the SOHO and consumer markets with breakthrough technology to dramatically increase efficiency and productivity. The company is unique in that it is the world's first to market with an online service that aggregates document delivery, printing and electronic file management in a single web site.
