Making it easy for users to access and utilize GWG settings in all popular workflow applications
Ghent, Belgium – The Ghent Workgroup has designed a user-friendly interface to make it simpler for end users to easily navigate and find GWG settings within the most commonly used applications for professional publishing workflows. The application settings can be downloaded and installed from the GWG website – https://www.gwg.org/application-settings. GWG settings are designed to help the user to automatically and properly create and check the quality and reliability of all PDF files.
The new Interface offers fast and easy access on any device to existing GWG settings in all popular applications such as Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop as well as suppliers' PDF preflight and workflows such as – Esko, EFI, Ricoh, Agfa, Kodak, and DALIM. For some applications GWG settings are already built in – pdfToolbox by Callas, Enfocus Pitstop and Adobe Acrobat Pro. It couldn’t be easier - for each application there are 2 simple links: first to download the application settings and second to access the GWG specs file.
Since 2002, GWG has been creating best practice specifications and tools to make the global design and publishing process more efficient. With this latest development, users will be able to quickly find and download the GWG settings for different applications and market segments. Having easy access to accurate settings for a variety of applications will speed up and simplify the overall process by helping to assimilate all the information necessary. For creative designers and printers the user interface should give them better control. One significant advantage is visibility – having all vendors to hand on the same page. The new user interface brings the network of vendors together in one cohesive offering. GWG works with multiple global vendors who are all registered and compliant with GWG settings. Using these free settings for PDF creation and processing along with process testing using the GWG Output Suite help ensure efficient and accurate production results.
David L. Zwang, Chairman says, “Our purpose is to make GWG settings available to everyone. As we expand and develop our range of settings to support Large Format, Industrial and Packaging applications we hope our new User Interface will become a dedicated and user-friendly hub for all those working with PDF file management. Byproviding these applications’ settings - all on the same page, we hope to better facilitate the easy adoption of our specifications by vendors, end users and all other parties involved in the graphic arts creation and production process. We continue to look for ways to help the user increase flexibility and reduce time to market.”
Please note:
GWG recommends users make sure they are using the most current version of the application together with the most current version of the GWG settings.
