New Oce Software Allows Users to Index, Search, and Print from Anywhere

Press release from the issuing company

Miami Beach, FL - Document management is one of the costliest bottlenecks in organizations today. But imagine if you could remove the mess of paper atop your desk, scan all documents in your file cabinets, coordinate your paper and electronic documents in one archive, and then access that archive from anywhere. That's all possible with today's introduction of OcÈ Find Logic(tm) document management software from OcÈ, a global leader in digital document management technology. OcÈ's Find Logic provides an easy way to index, search, share and reproduce documents. With Oc Find Logic software, documents can be retrieved based on their content so users do not have to organize their paper-based documents prior to archiving. The software's automated system eliminates the lengthy tasks of manual organizing, structuring, and searching digital and hard copy files. Instead, it automatically turns the files into a single, easy-to-manage searchable archive that can be accessed from any location, even through the Internet. "With the flood of information growing daily, OcÈ constantly is improving upon its complete document-management solutions. OcÈ Find Logic software is the next step in this evolution," said Wendell Wilson, Group Vice President of OcÈ's Document Printing Systems business unit. "This product will help in significantly reducing the time knowledge professionals spend locating important business documents. Many organizations like law firms, law enforcement and government agencies, marketing and documentation departments will immediately benefit now that electronic and scanned documents can be so easily found through a simple word search." OcÈ Find Logic software's robust text retrieval functions enables users to locate and retrieve archived electronic and scanned documents at high speeds and with outstanding accuracy. Uncompromised full-text, key field and folder searching allow users to find documents faster than ever. Archives can be searched by typing in simple words or word strings. Advanced search techniques also are available, if more precise results are necessary. Further, OcÈ Find Logic's fuzzy search technology searches for all occurrences of a word as well as words that are close in spelling. This eliminates incorrect or incomplete queries caused by spelling errors in documents or poor quality scans (as in 3rd generation copies or faxes). OcÈ Find Logic's WYHIWYG (What You Had Is What You Get) technology represents a major breakthrough for electronic document management. Rather than viewing raw, OCR generated text as with other imaging systems, OcÈ Find Logic software presents users with an electronic "photocopy" of the original document. The search terms users are looking for are highlighted directly on the image, so they can view the highlighted words in context. This further reduces the time that knowledge workers spend looking for documents. Document searches can be launched from anywhere - across local networks, the Intranet, or the Internet. Document collections can even be published on CD for external distribution. This archive-retrieval software can be tailored from a standard application for a small workgroup to a customized solution for an entire organization, making it easy to share knowledge across an enterprise. And with the automatic recognition of paper size, orientation and language, it is easy to reproduce any archived document when needed. "With OcÈ Find Logic software, OcÈ is helping organizations share knowledge across the enterprise," said Crit Driessen, OcÈ Vice President of Network Printing Solutions. "Now, workers will be able to access the information they need to write a report or give a presentation simply by searching archived files." The core technology of OcÈ Find Logic software is powered by Zylab, an OcÈ partner. OcÈ Find Logic software is scheduled for customer installations beginning in the first quarter of 2001.
