Premiums and Promotional Packaging Specialist, Supremia, Adds New Eco-Friendly Initiative to Growing List of Sustainability Practices

Press release from the issuing company

Lawrenceville, N.J. – Supremia International, a leading premiums and promotional packaging specialist, has furthered its commitment to sustainability with the retainment of TerraCycle, a world leader in the collection and repurposing of complex waste streams. Recently, Supremia International hired TerracCycle to collect and repurpose pallets of cotton bags for which it no longer had use.

Supremia initiated the process by seeking to avoid either burning or landfilling pallets of cotton bags it had accumulated over several years. These bags were samples that had been manufactured for trial and, because they were ‘branded,’ could not simply be donated. TerraCycle aggregated the bags with other like goods and converted them into low-end yarn, called ‘shoddy.’ Shoddy is sold in bulk to companies who use it in a variety of ways, including as insulation or padded products, typically in furniture or exercise equipment.
