Heidelberg North America Premieres Versafire EV and EP at Print Media Center Atlanta

Press release from the issuing company

Kennesaw, Ga. – With more than 1,600 Versafire installs worldwide and growing, U.S. Versafire customers were recently invited to the Print Media Center Atlanta to learn about Heidelberg’s new digital presses: the Versafire EV and EP.

Kicking the day off, customers were given a full overview of the key features and new updates on the Versafire models. Demonstrations of Heidelberg’s exclusive Prinect Digital Front End controller, the Versafire EV and EP, and integrating digital and offset in real time production were available for customers in addition to a session to discuss the comparison of digital performance and total cost of ownership.

“The event was very informative,” said George Vargas, Plant Manager of Meridian Printing Inc located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. “I was impressed looking at the new features of these models. Based on what I had seen, the EV and EP are a very appealing offer.”

Versafire EP — Safe, Efficient, Reliable Production
Building on the success of the Versafire CP, the new Versafire EP offers offset quality color and registration for environments exceeding 500,000 impressions per month at a cost of operation far less than its digital competitors.

Printing up to 135 pages per minute, the Versafire EP can now process substrates up to 470gsm (24 pt) at lengths up to 27.5”. Additionally, banner length papers of up to 1260 mm (49.6”) and up to 1030mm (40.5”) auto duplex are possible. The Versafire EP added new inline sensors to enable the machine to control the color automatically during the print run ensuring safe, efficient and reliable production.

Versafire EV — Extraordinary Effects, High Productivity
Delivering high quality products, the 5-color Versafire EV offers reliable production that is perfected on up to 27.5” substrates. In addition to CMYK standard jobs, the engine expands the gamut with 5-color rendering using neon yellow or neon pink. Also, embellishments with the fifth color options are available and include white, clear varnish, neon yellow, neon pink and new invisible red. For the first time, customers are able to print on colored paper or clear synthetics and produce extraordinary effects while printing white first and then process CMYK colors on top, all in one pass.

The new EV has extended substrate capabilities including metallized, colored, or transparent media. Printing at speeds up to 95 pages per minute, the Versafire EV offers a high level of productivity. Stability, precision, and quality is also improved thanks to the new automatic inline color management and inline register.

“We have the Versafire CP and CV, and I was excited to learn what new features are offered in the new models,” said Ralph Mondesando, Vice President of Rose Press located in Mount Vernon, New York. “The inline spectrophotometer is incredible— it’s inline and checks for every color, which is crucial for us to print great quality. We’re also excited about the new colors offered. Every time a new version of the Versafire is created, it just gets better and better.”
