Washington, D.C. − U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) Acting Deputy Director Andrew M. Sherman announces the appointment of five new members to the Depository Library Council (DLC). The DLC is composed of 15 members, each of whom serves a three year term. DLC members advise the Director on policy matters relating to the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). In addition to experience working in various types of libraries, the new DLC members have experience with and knowledge of current developments in the fields of library science and U.S. Government information. With the increasing dissemination of information in electronic formats, these new members will help position the DLC and the FDLP for the GPO’s ongoing mission of Keeping America Informed.

"Libraries are an integral part of how we provide the public with access to information produced by all three branches of the Federal Government. GPO looks forward to working with these new members and the expertise they will bring the Council,” said GPO Acting Deputy Director Andrew M. Sherman.

These five new DLC members will serve from June 1, 2018 – May 31, 2021.

Alicia Kubas: Government Publications and Regional Depository Librarian, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. As the Regional Coordinator, Alicia works with 70 selective depository libraries in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Michigan to offer free access to Government information. She is active in the American Library Association's Government Documents Round Table.

Stephen Parks: State Librarian of Mississippi. Stephen oversees the State Library, a specialized public law library which provides legal research materials for the judiciary, state agencies, lawyers, students and the public. Stephen also teaches legal research to law students and courses on Government resources to library students.

Marianne Ryan: Dean of Libraries, Loyola University Chicago. Marianne has taught courses on Government and legal information and has published and presented on the value of Federal information and other primary sources. She chaired the Government Documents Roundtable Publications Committee and edited Library Journal’s “Notable Government Documents” column. Marianne is a recipient of ALA/GODORT’s NewsBank/Readex/Catharine J. Reynolds Grant.

Robbie Sittel: Government Information Librarian, University of North Texas. Robbie is dedicated to preservation and access of Government information, specifically digital-born information. Prior to becoming an academic librarian, Robbie spent nine years as Documents Coordinator for the Tulsa City-County Library where she was engaged state-wide in promoting and teaching the value and use of Government information. She is an active member of ALA and has held leadership roles in TLA GODORT.

Yvonne D. Williams: Cataloging Specialist, Government Publications Department. Yvonne is a 30-year veteran working with the FDLP at the Memphis Public Library and Information Center. She is the lead staff person assigned to maintain daily operations, which includes technical processing, maintaining the historical Federal documents collection, and overseeing FDLP promotional initiatives. She has developed strategies, which are now being implemented, to enhance staff and public awareness of the FDLP.
