New Zealand Newspaper Decides On Insight Editorial
Press release from the issuing company
BLENHEIM, NEW ZEALAND -- As part of an on-going program of production facilities and technology improvement, The Marlborough Express in Blenheim, New Zealand, has invested in a comprehensive Insiight(tm) Editorial content and workflow management solution from premier newspaper solutions provider net-linx Publishing Solutions, Asia/Pacific Division.
The daily Marlborough Express, owned by Independent Newspapers Ltd, is the first newspaper in New Zealand to purchase Insiight Editorial.
Roger Rose, General Manager of The Marlborough Express, said, "After evaluating all other systems we are excited to be involved with a system that will more than cater to our requirements both now and into the future. This leading edge technology will ensure that we remain at the forefront of newspaper production."
The Workflow: Insiight Editorial is a complete content and workflow management solution which enables seamless integration of applications across a network and gives users access to content, assets and resources from a single desktop. Replacing a Word-based editorial system using QuarkXPress for pagination, The Marlborough Express' new facility features a Lotus Notes(tm) Domino-based solution with Notes clients for editorial input integrating with QuarkXPress for pagination and Quark CopyDesk SE for sub editing.
Insiight, based on an Enterprise Application Integration architecture called UNA developed by net-linx, will be integrated with the newspaper's existing Quicklayout advertisement dummying system, NZPA wire service and IMS digital asset manager, allowing users multiple access through a single workspace 'portal' as required.
Supporting the total newspaper editorial process from feature planning, story assignment/management to reporting, editing and publication, Insiight makes it easy to track stories, pages and editions. Story indexing is automatic and allows simple, complex and full-text searching of stories, wires and archives.
"The Marlborough Express has built a reputation as an innovator in the publishing arena in New Zealand - being the first to introduce digital photography in 1998 and color reproduction in 1977," says Peter Barker, General Manager, net-linx Publishing Solutions, Asia/Pacific Division. "Its decision to invest in our 'future-proof' enterprise management technology will increase editorial staff efficiencies via integrated communication and collaboration tools while establishing an open and robust framework for growth as and when required."
